The music for Mean Creek consists of simple harmonies, melodies and classically influenced instrumentation combined with pop record sensibilities; the musical inspiration was The Velvet Underground in a classical context. While there are only three main instruments used in the score, these are multi-tracked to create a much larger sound than expected with single.
