The Rules of Attraction

Full of palindromes and subliminal messages, the soundtrack to The Rules of Attraction is as subtle and manipulative as the film itself. 80's pop dominates the musical foreground, but the elements of tomandandy's score create a disorienting and compelling connective tissue, winding through the tangled fabric of the movie -- in some places offering clues, in others misdirection. This score is a surreal and understated achievement which rewards repeated listenings.
